Some things that I will personally add here about the condo.
It's close to lots of shopping and restaurants. The Forum is super close, Perimeter Mall is close, North Point Mall isn't far, and even Lenox/Phipps is just a short drive away.
There is a good sized walk in closet in the master bedroom and two closets in the second bedroom. Plus 2 linen closets and a big storage closet off the sun room. And a coat closet near the front door. So, plenty of storage space!
The hot water heater is only 2 years old. We replaced it when we redid the floors...so it should be good to go for a long time.
We had built in bookcases made a few years ago...they are quite deep, one on each side of the fireplace, and they can hold A LOT. That's more storage!
I have used the sun room for a lot of different purposes. I used it as an office, we had a treadmill in there (as my workout room) and we have even used it as Sophia's playroom. The sun room is basically an extension of the living room and is very versatile.
The park area is new to the community and they have added some gazebos and tables...it's the perfect place to have a picnic or just relax and read outside...and it's right near our building. Sophia loves to run around and play there. The pool isn't far, near the mailboxes, and is always kept in very clean condition. The community isn't huge (maybe 9 or 10 buildings total) and the surrounding area is great for walking.
There is one reserved parking spot that comes along with the rental. For some reason, a lot of the other buildings don't have reserved spots, it's just first come, first served. This is a definite plus, as it is close to the walkway and no one else ever parks there....it's all yours!! Plus it is somewhat under a tree...a definite positive during the hot summer.
The community cares about the residents and looks out for each other. All of our neighbors are nice people and we've never had any real problems with anyone. They will keep an eye out when we go out of town, but aren't too nosey. Friendly without being overbearing.
After all that, you might be wondering why we are leaving and trying to rent our place? Well, when Sophia was a newborn, we still felt as though we had plenty of room and space to grow. Now that she is all over the place with so much more stuff we have realized that we might, in fact, be growing out of the space. And we just happened to find a once-in-a-lifetime awesome opportunity to gain a bit more space (if you were curious about my last blog, this should probably answer that mystery!). And so, here we are, seeking a renter for our condo. I have lived here for 6 and a half years...it is the longest I have lived anywhere without moving (excluding living with my parents). For a long stretch after college, I think I moved every freaking year. I have enjoyed being settled in one place, and look forward to getting settled again in the new place for a nice long time.

Father's Day
(Another post using the internet at my parents house...that's the only way it's going to happen until after Thursday!)
This year for Father's Day I went more low-key on the gift side and decided that we would have a fun day together at the Yellow River Game Ranch. I have been a LOT of times in my life, my Dad used to take me, and then me and my sister, and then me and my sister and brother. So I've been quite a bit and really like it. My Dad even took Sophia her first time, with my brother and Cooper. But Michael had never been so I thought it would be the perfect fun family day. Sophia was very excited to 'go see animals'.

My Dad even took Sophia her first time, with my brother and Cooper. But Michael had never been so I thought it would be the perfect fun family day. Sophia was very excited to 'go see animals'.

Then we visited my favorite part...the bunny area! We found a little bunny and Sophia loved petting him...I totally want to get her one as a pet (and maybe share it with her!!)
She wanted to share the carrot with the cute little guy....
...but he really wasn't hungry at all.
So she kept trying to stuff it in his mouth. Poor little bunny, haha

As we were heading toward the exit, we saw this little deer and decided to give him some corn
Sophia decided she wanted to help Daddy feed him corn from her hand!
The deer started to get a little too close, so she backed up. After that though, she changed her mind and wanted to pet him. But he had already strolled off. So we chased him a bit (as she was shouting after the deer that she wanted to 'pet him') but then let him go about his business.
Sophia kept talking about the deer eating corn out of her hand. She is showing right where it ate from and said 'it tickled'!! I think that was her favorite part of the day.
I can't wait until we take her back, clearly the tradition of the Yellow River Game Ranch is continuing...and I love it! It was a great Father's Day activity. I am so thankful that Sophia has such a great Daddy....just like I do. :-)

Stupid Comcast
If you're wondering where I have been, blog-wise, for the last week, please refer to the title of this post.
Our internet is out. Has been for almost a week. And, shocker, Comcast has no idea why.
I realize that there aren't very many options if you want cable and internet. If I were a millionaire I would start my own cable company and probably put Comcast out of business. It's not like I've ever heard a lot of positive stories about people dealing with them. And I sure don't have anything positive to share. And they don't even care, don't even have to care, because there are almost no alternatives to using them for cable and/or internet.
When I first moved into my condo six and a half years ago, it took them almost an entire month to get my cable hooked up. Come to find out, they were trying to hook my tv up to an old dish outlet. Ugh. And during that time, they never once showed up in the window of time (like a three hour window, no less) that they told me they would. Once or twice, they never showed up at all. And so I went without tv for a month. Not at all by my choice.
Once they finally got their heads out of you-know-where and got it set up, I have still had several other problems with them since then. Also, my maiden last name is still on my bill, despite being married for three and a half years now. Care to ask why?? Well, when I was changing my last name on my other bills and credit cards and stuff (super easy, by the way....some just took my verbal, over the phone change, others I merely had to fax a form to change it), Comcast informed me that I would have to show up, in person, at their office with a copy of my marriage license to make any change. It was practically easier to change my drivers license and social security card. Especially since I was not ever able to show up at their office during business hours (and did not deem the visit worth the time I would've had to take off of work). They wouldn't even accept a fax or letter or anything. We are talking about a cable bill, not a credit card or some other major bill. That is pretty much the stupidest thing I have ever heard and therefore, my maiden name shall remain on my cable bill until, by some miracle, I can cancel with them.
Another time, we were having a problem with our cable. After waiting on hold for an ungodly number of minutes, we explained the problem to the tech on the phone and specifically said that we had shows on our DVR that we DID NOT want to lose, so if a tech had to come out to check the problem we would prefer that. And the tech then proceeded to reset our DVR, losing all of our saved shows.....and the tech had to come out anyway. I'm still annoyed by that.
And here we are, most recently, with internet that doesn't work. And of course they can't get a tech out to work on it until Thursday of next week. And I will have to sit around for three hours waiting on someone to come into my home and try to fix it. NOT looking forward to that.

And we really don't have anything to change to....AT&T Uverse isn't our area (although it is in the neighborhood pretty much across the street from us...figure that one out) and when we tried to get Dish, we were told by the Homeowners Association that we weren't allowed to put a dish on the roof unless we wanted to assume all liability if anything ever happened to the roof. Which we don't. Even though we could actually see other dishes on top of other buildings in the complex. Apparently they were all going to be told to take down those dishes. Yeah, right. So we are pretty much stuck with Comcast. And I am NOT happy about it.
So, here I am, at my parents' house using their internet, just to do a blog. (Ok, I'm not just here for that, but it's the only place I can do it) And there a dozen things each day that I need the internet for, but clearly won't be able to fully do until they fix the stupid problem. At least I can be thankful for my iPhone and Apple and the 3G network....so I'm not totally out of luck, internet-wise!

Busy, Busy, Busy
So clearly I have not been spending a lot of time on the blog lately. I've had some things to blog about, but just have been too busy to get to it. And I'm still in the middle of the busy, so I'll try to update for now and hopefully not disappear for too long!
After Dillon's graduation (my last post) we had a fun party for him on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. It was nice to celebrate his accomplishment and have the usual family friends over to swim and eat good food with us. I don't even remember what we did the Monday of Memorial Day weekend. My brother then came home with us....he started work at the credit union Michael works at so he was just going to be staying with us for the work weeks. That is going ok so far...besides the fact that we don't have a guest room so he is sleeping on the floor in Sophia's playroom at night! We do actually have a pull out couch, but Dillon decided that would be too much work to fold it in and out every day....whatever floats his boat.
Wednesday of last week, my Mom had surgery. This is her third major surgery in about 12 or so years...and this particular one was similar to the first one she had (on her spine, in the neck area). I was a tad nervous about it, but it actually went quite well. I was also a bit nervous about visiting her in the hospital....despite a several day stay at one just a year and a half ago for my c-section, I am not a fan of hospitals. They smell funny and make me very nervous. Mom's last surgery was actually on her brain and much more serious than the spinal surgeries and when I went in to visit her and saw her in so much pain I almost threw right up. It would probably be a different story if it was not someone that I care about in that position, but that memory did crop up in my mind before this surgery. She was still in a good deal of pain after this surgery, but besides a collar on her neck and an oxygen mask over her nose, it wasn't the same as the last time. So pretty much as soon as I saw her and knew she was ok, I was ok. But I will say my stomach was in knots before that point. She did so well that she was able to go home on Thursday afternoon. And she is steadily getting stronger and able to move around a bit more...although she will be in her collar and taking things easy for an entire month. For my Mom, who is usually on the go all the time, she is probably already bored with the laying around the house. But the whole family was there at the house with her this past weekend and I am sure she was at least a little entertained by her grandchildren, if nothing else. Sophia appreciates the opportunity to get in to any and everything while I am trying to do something for Grammy. So that has been fun and tiring.
This week is a lot more of the same, going back and forth between my house and my Mom's house to help keep her company while my Dad works and to help take care of her and keep her medications straight and stuff like that. Michael is going out of town for a business trip of sorts...a training class in Athens that will last a full week. I don't think we have ever been apart for that long since we've gotten married...it will be very weird. I am planning on taking Soph to Birmingham to visit my sister (and Jay and Cooper) for a few days next week to break up the time without Michael. And then of course I will be with my Mom for some of the time too.
The busy-ness of our days doesn't seem to be slowing down any time soon. I don't so much mind it, it gives us a lot to look forward to anyway. But being so busy seems to make time fly by, even faster than normal. And some of the little things (like blogging or cleaning my house up real good) seem to go by the wayside during the rush of days and plans flying by. I swear, laundry is the only thing I feel like I can really stay on top of!
I will try to be better about updating the blog. Hopefully there will be more exciting things to blog about in the near future, other than just day to day busy stuff. I guess life just sometimes is the busy moments....not bad at all, but not super entertaining to a crowd! I am sure all five of my readers will hang on the edge of their seats for some entertainment from me....haha!! :-)
