So here are just some of my favorite wedding photos of me and my husband on our wedding day, February 28, 2009......one of the best days of my life so far!

Monday comes too quickly...
Well, it is Monday again. I always feel like the weekend is soooo short....probably because I always have to work half days on Saturdays. It's not bad, only 3 hours, but each weekend feels like we have to cram in as much as possible because of the shortened time. This last weekend was nice, the weather is finally starting to look like Spring (not so much yesterday but Saturday was very pretty) and I am ready for it. We spent Saturday afternoon with my family and then spent most of yesterday cleaning out the closet, making room for spring/summer clothes and weeding out what I can't fit into anymore and adding in the maternity clothes. It wasn't an exciting weekend, but it is always nice to have some time away from the weekly grind.
Today is two weeks to the day until we find out if we are having a boy or girl. I really can't wait, it feels like time is just dragging and dragging. For the record, I kinda think we are going to end up finding out it is a boy. I don't really have a feeling or anything, I just think that because I am definitely leaning towards wanting a little girl more, it will be a boy. Not that I would mind a boy, I will take whatever gender of healthy little baby that God wants to give me....but really a girl would be SO much more fun to shop for. :-) And I also kind of picture myself as the kind of mom who would have a great time playing barbies and baby dolls and dress up with my child....not really the kind of thing you should do with your little boy, haha. Thankfully coloring and play-doh are unisex because those are top on my list of things I can't wait to do with my kids (and I will teach them early to stay in the lines and not mix the play-doh colors). I like cars and sports, so those are good "boy" things....but I also LOVE shopping and fashion and that doesn't seem like something I could bond with my little boy over.
It will be fine either way, I know it, and I know I will adapt to either....at this point the waiting to find out what it will be is killing me the most!! I don't know how people wait the whole pregnancy! I don't feel like I am ruining the surprise of it, because it will still be a surprise for me in two weeks and then I can plan the nursery accordingly and start shopping for cute gender specific clothes and toys.
So, while this Monday, non-exciting as it is so far, came way too quickly......I know that I am hoping that two Mondays from now, April 12th, will hurry up and get here already!!!!!

Hi, my name is Nicki...and I am addicted to Twitter (sort of)
I didn't really know what I should post about today and I got to thinking that this is only my third day of blogging and already I am running out of material....pretty depressing since I was so excited to join the blogosphere (is that really what you call it??!!).
So then I started to think that well, at least I am out here on the computer and am somewhat technologically advanced and can navigate my way around....and I am on Facebook and Myspace (ok, not that I have really been ON myspace in months) and have several email addresses and can shop online with the best of them. Oh yeah, and I am on Twitter.
Hence, the topic of the day.
When I say I am on Twitter, it is a fairly recent thing. Just as I resisted Facebook (and now just keep it up all day long....and check it 300 times, on the computer and then on my Iphone after work), I stayed away from Twitter because I didn't understand its purpose or what in the world it actually was. I set up an account about 6 months ago to do the investigative work to see if I could shed some light on what literally everyone was going crazy over. And I guess when I say everyone, I mean everyone in Hollywood; actors, actresses, reality show "stars", etc. But it seemed a little boring to me and I gave up my quest, figuring Facebook would have to just be my "cool" thing.
While I still might not be totally sure about the point of Twitter, I think I might have a small addiction. Now, I don't actually ever "Tweet" anything (not really sure how) and I think I only have maybe 2 or 3 followers (all friends that I could just call or send a message to on Facebook). But I probably follow 50 or something different people! 3 or 4 of those friends are actual people I know that Twitter graciously found for me through my email account. And the rest are various Hollywood types....everyone from Oprah to Ryan Seacrest to a handful of reality TV personalities (ok a pretty large handful of these...they seem to have the most time to Tweet) to rock stars (Joe Perry, whoo hoo!) to soap opera characters (well, just one...and in my defense they cancelled my favorite soap, how else can I keep up with the continuing saga??!!). It is fascinating the things that these people will Tweet and I literally update Twitterific (I know, I know, I am a total dork) on my Iphone several times a day to see what is going on with my "pals". The cool thing is, unlike Facebook, if you don't want to follow someone, you can still go to their Twitter profile and read all the Tweets they have posted. Some people post pictures and their own blogs and links to other interesting things. Sure, some of it I don't care about (nope, Ryan Seacrest does not need to tell me every time he walks to the stage for American Idol) but I feel like it is one step ahead of the gossip magazines....it is like the celebrities are giving me the gossip first hand, sometimes even before I see it on E! News (haha, laugh if you want, I know I am lame). It is kind of like stalking celebrities, but legally and they approve of this brand of stalking, even encourage it by wanting as many followers as they can get. Fine by me! If I can't be a celebrity at least let me live vicariously through them! Ha!
I don't know who invented Twitter (although I could probably Google it and find out pretty easily...I guess I don't really care) but as much as I resisted it, I must say it is a nice addition to my E! News and TMZ apps and thoroughly entertaining. If you are a doubter, just make an account, pick your favorite celebrity (any celebrity, no matter how big or small...chances are, they have a Twitter account. One note to Sara: skip Britney, she doesn't say much and I am not sure if it is even her or some minion of hers making the posts) and follow/stalk away. I am pretty sure you will be addicted before too long!!

Random Thoughts Thursday
Ok, so on to my second blog. Not every Thursday will be full of random thoughts (don't get too excited, they might not be all that interesting of thoughts) but for now that title somewhat applies. And it might be less random in the fact that I am blogging in response to something I watched on my DVR last night....the most recent episode of 16 and Pregnant.
I know exactly what you are thinking...why in the world would someone watch that show? Some people are more captivated by senseless reality TV and I happen to be one of those people. Also, even though I am not 16, not unwed, no longer living with my parents (the almost month that we were there for our renovations does NOT count) and on perfectly good terms with my family and significant other (husband), I do share something in common with these girls....I am pregnant! The similarities stop there.
Just a little bit of background before I get to my point. The girl in this episode, named Samantha, is in her senior year of highschool and pregnant. She seems smart enough, book wise, but clearly just not quite mature enough to be a mother, not that many (if any) 16-17 year olds are. Ironically, her mother had her at 16 and is also pregnant at the same time as her daughter.....at this I really cannot make too many comments, although I could probably go on and on about that topic for a while.
ANYWAY. So Samantha finally goes into labor and it's not progressing very quickly. After 18 hours or so she is only a couple centimeters dilated....not so unusual but what made me take notice of this enough to blog was how she was responding to the labor......she literally was screaming and rolling around during each contraction like someone was trying to KILL her. Literally blood-curdling screams. And crying, more like sobbing. And I am not sure how to put into words the sounds when the doctor finally came in to break her water. The nurse (who I am sure wanted to throw her patient out of the window) calmly tried to explain that she needed to be at 3 centimeters to get her epidural, she was close, she could make it, and various other phrases said to help calm women in labor. More hysterical screaming and crying.
*In a funny side note, my husband is sitting there watching with me (he got to pick the show we watched before that) and is completely horrified, wide eyed and open mouthed at every scream.*
When we return from a commercial break we find that even though young Samantha has not reached the coveted 3 centimeters, they will give her an epidural anyway....surely just to shut her up and not scare the entire rest of the hospital to death. And in the end, she has to have a C-section. I am pretty sure all the viewers got lucky on that one.
The point to this entire post is that I hope and pray and KNOW that no matter how bad my labor hurts, I will NOT act the way this girl did. I have a pretty high pain threshold but have never experienced a contraction before and am sure I am in for some pretty big pain. I just don't want to scream and cry more than my new infant will! How embarassing! Although, for the record, my birthing experience will NOT be filmed by MTV or any other camera crew.
So maybe I don't know at all what labor will really be like since I have never experienced it first hand. And maybe my high threshold for pain will diminish in one gripping contraction. But, thanks to Samantha and MTV's enthralling reality TV show, I know exactly how I will NOT behave during said labor!!! And I've still got 23 more weeks to go but this show will stick with me. In the moment when I am in such pain I will think back to Samantha....and I will grit my teeth.....and do the exact opposite of her! (Maybe I'll try to be more like Kourtney Kardashian, who I don't think even made a peep while pushing out her son....but that is an entirely different reality show!!!)

New to this whole blogging thing....
Ok, so here we go with my first ever blog. I like to read blogs. My sister started one not that long ago and I read that. Her sister-in-law has a blog that I read regularly. And then I read the blogs that I find randomly from friends on Facebook...and friends of friends....and the occasional blogs of people I don't even know. So at this point you know I like to read blogs. Great. And today, after (ok, during) a rather slow day of work I have decided to start my own. Surely I have plenty of things to say that others might be interested in...I am sort of drawing a blank right now....bloggers block?
Ok, wait a minute. Lots of fairly interesting things happening in my life. First and foremost, my husband and I are expecting our first child. I am 17 weeks today, due Sept 1 and we will know if it is a boy or girl in 19 (agonizingly long) days. Also we just renovated our condo....new wood floors, a brand new from top to bottom master bath, had the ugly popcorn on the ceiling removed, and had a big (again, ugly) mirror wall in our dining room taken down. It looks nice and I think we will be able to tolerate living there for a few more years. Sure, we have some other little things to do (new carpets in the bedrooms, some little details in the kitchen, new blinds for all the windows or at least some nice curtains) but for now it is a nice, updated change that we both like.
Hmm, that seems to be the extent of "interesting" things going on with me lately. We are going to the beach, but that isn't until May and surely it will come up in some future blog. Easter is in a week and a half....not even sure what the plan is yet so can't get too excited about that one.
Well, folks, it seems like I am going to have to dig a little deeper, maybe stir up some controversy (with who, myself? I don't even have followers yet!), assign some theme type days for topics....figure out how to add pictures to the actual blogs....something before my next post! All in all, I feel like I will really like blogging and am glad to join this century and create my own blog spot....hopefully for others to enjoy....or at least read so I am not totally wasting my time!! :-)
