New Table, Chairs and Toy Box

On Sunday we went to Ikea and bought a little table and chairs and matching toy box (with the plan for it to hold Soph's books). Every time we go to Buy Buy Baby she sits in the display table and chair sets they have that are just her size and loves it. The thing is, those cute sets are usually more than a hundred dollars....not happening. Michael happened to find the little table that came with two chairs at Ikea for $20 and only needed some paint. While we were there we found the matching toy box for $15. Can't beat that! Sometimes I worry that Ikea stuff might not be sturdy but when we checked it out I was happy with it and it was the perfect size for Sophia. Monday after Michael got home from work we went to Home Depot to pick out a paint color.  I wanted something bright, but not something that would totally clash with our house.  And I didn't want it to be a definite girly color so if we eventually add a boy to the brood then he can enjoy it too.  So we went with a bright sea foam-ish green color.  I thought it turned out to be a great color choice.  Stupidly, we decided to start the painting process at 10pm on Monday night. Needless to say, after all the painting and assembling was complete, it was 2am.
But it turned out so cute and when Soph woke up and saw it she loved it, even demanding her breakfast be served to her at the table. She also found a quick use for the toy box, before we filled it up with books. She was very sweet to let her baby doll sit at the table with her!!  And of course she got in a little trouble for climbing up on the chair (although not too much trouble since I stopped to take a picture first).
I think the purchase was a success, although next time we buy something that needs to be painted we will at least do so at a decent hour!! :-)
